Set the interval by use
Door type, cycle count, opening size, environment and consequence of downtime should guide inspection frequency. A high-use loading or service bay needs a different plan than a lightly used storage opening.
Track each door
Record the door location, model, operator, controls, service history and recurring parts. Sask Door’s Door Registry is being designed to keep this history attached to the physical opening.
Include safety and controls
A maintenance visit should consider balance, sections, hardware, track, seals, operator function and installed safety devices. Repairs and testing requirements vary by door and application.
